Another glorious day on the water for NT Shades Sprint Series Day II, with 20 boats on the water, close racing and fickle conditions testing the fleet.
The minnow fleets was out in strength again and we introduced “Fair Sailor of the Week” to recognise our Div 6 sailors who showed brilliant sportsmanship, on and off the water. The deserving recipient for the very first week is Fynn Goat, for his sportsmanship and manners.
Well Done Fynn for your great sailing, great sportsmanship and good grace on the night when we got the results wrong, you really showed why you won the first ‘Fair Sailor of the Week’.
Minnows had brilliant close racing this is week, with mere seconds separating the top three boats, while we had muddle of the results at the presentation, we are so sorry Minnow Skippers, but we have sorted that out, and the official result for the NT Shades Sprint Series Day II are:
Over all PHS winners in a dead heat with nine points each to Ozone Fynn Goat, and Y Knot? Leo Battenberg, and other overall results for the day 3rd place Bumble B, Tiger Batenburg, 2nd place Y Knot? Leo Batenburg, and 1st Place by one point to Ozone, Fynn Goat. Fynn and Leo had great racing both getting two first each in the heats.
The A Classes had close sailing with Shakira, Tom Griffiths taking out the day.
Tasers were represented by Knot 2 Worry, Bernadeen and Camille, who sailed their first Taser race of the season.
The Lasers had another strong fleet, with a strong turnout in Radials and Standard Rig, The Division committee rep for the Lasers had a sensational day on the water, Calmer Suture, Phil Toonson taking out the double, first overall Standard Rig for both Yardstick and Performance Handicap.
The Radial fleet competition is heating up with 3rd place yardstick Xtra Trouble, Tim Maddock who also won 1st place Day II Performance Handicap, 2nd place yardstick goes to Prefrontalcortexless James McGrath and with a clean sweep of the day 1st place yardstick to Dogmatix Aden McGrath.

Once more thank so much for the Race Committee and all the members who stepped up to make this week’s racing all happen and our very own Michelle and Chris “Bundy” Batenburg of NT Shades, for their sponsorship and extra refreshments on the day.
We have found a few hiccups with the results so we will be reviewing them this week in detail and are doing our very best to improve for the rest of the season, we really appreciate your understanding and patience as I get better with this.
This week is the all club event for the Patrons Trophy Race, great trophies and thanks to the generosity of our glamorous Commodore a gorgeous Pearl is up for grabs in the participation draw.
See you on the Water,
