Sailing Wash Up #3

29 July 2022

What a great few weeks it has been sailing, with a blustery Buchannan Island, Sprint Series, Twilights and the Australian Sailing Northern Territory Championships last weekend. A massive thank you to all the members who volunteered their time to make it all happen.

It was an absolute delight to see so many juniors out for the NT Champs, with 7 Minnows and 5 Optis sailing, thanks to the fantastic work of DSC Training Officer Alanna and the Training Committee.  Bubble B Tiger Battenburg held on to first place by one point in front of Sea Monkey Harrison Duggan, followed closely in third place by Ozone, Fynn Goat.

The Optis had great afternoon racing, with Sam McManus winning the Regatta and Fair Sailor award. Second in the Opti went to Josef Ansell and third place to Tyler Duignan, great sailing by all our junior sailors over the weekend.

The pacers had some great match racing and the best music of the day well done Ari and Deacon. Cooper and Will battled it out on the Laser 4.7 with both doing great in the light air and Will winning the regatta.

There was great competition in fickle conditions within all Divisions, with the podium winners decided by mere points and some coming down to countback

Tasers, 1st Tequilla Sunrise, Phil and Sara, 2nd Crackerjack Fiona and Sue, 3rd  Knot to Worry Libby and Camille

A Class 1st Cutsup Graham Piggot, 2nd Go with the Flow Ben Doran, 3rd Frank Peacocke

Laster Standard 1st Calmer Suture Phil Toonson, 2nd Lets Launch Chris Batenburg, 3rd River Linc Gary Martin

Laser Radials 1st Dogmatitic Aden McGrath, Perfrontalcortexless James McGrath, 3rd ABC Bruce Abbott

There were smiles all around for the 48 strong fleet, with a fabulous regatta, despite some light winds in the mornings.

For all the results here’s the link.

There is a few weeks off for the club racing, with Crab Claw Cruises and the NT Women’s Regatta, so enjoy the long week and see everyone back on the glorious Fannie Bay for the NT Shades,  Sprint Series Day IV on Sunday 14 August 22.

Don’t forget you can see all the results on Sail Sys

See you on the water!
